University of Vermont trustees to set budget, tuition increase

As usual, trustees of the University of Vermont have waited for their May meeting to raise tuition for the next academic year.

There’s less tension than usual surrounding the exercise this time, though, because interim President John Bramley set a limit last fall, before the budgeters got to work: Tuition would go up no more than 3.5 percent.

That’s the increase trustees are likely to approve at their meetings Friday and Saturday. The fiscal 2013 general-fund budget they also are expected....
