Twitter ban for University of Miami football players: Necessary or useless?

Trying to exert control in an chaotic universe might be pointless, but that doesn’t stop football coaches from trying.

Latest case in point: University of Miami coach Randy Shannon, who imposed a Twitter ban on his players last week.

After a drubbing at Ohio State, Shannon said he wants players to be more “focused,” so he told them to shut their Twitter accounts.

But the team’s techno-addicts won’t have to go completely cold turkey: Shannon is still allowing Facebook postings, for now.
