  • Job Summary/Basic Function:
    The Clinical Instructor and Director of Nursing Learning Resource Center (LRC) and Innovative Technologies plans, organizes, and directs all activities and staff for the LRC, and provides expertise and direction for relevant technologies used in nursing education. This individual will provide a quality learning environment to enhance teaching and learning activities in the LRC, evaluate new technological advances in nursing education; and participate in faculty development activities that are consistent with the mission of the college and program outcomes.
    Minimum Qualifications
    Master’s degree or above in Nursing and 2 years of experience practicing as a Registered Nurse
    Operational experience such as using and/or programming multiple medium and high-fidelity simulation computerized mannequins and audio-visual equipment for simulation.
    Strong leadership skills including effective communication, organization, and strategic planning.
    Ability to understand and utilize advanced technical Sim Lab equipment and communicate that knowledge to others as appropriate.
    Advanced analytical, problem solving skills, and computer/technological skills
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills to represent simulation resources internally and to external constituencies.
    Required Professional license or certificates: Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse in Ohio or eligible for Ohio RN License.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Two years of teaching experience in an undergraduate and/or graduate program.
    Master’s or doctoral degree in Nursing.
    Simulation certification.
    Essential Functions and percent of time:

    35 % Leadership of LRC
    Supervises, evaluates and schedules LRC staff.
    Directs the operational activities of the LRC including the use of skills labs, space utilization, teaching and working with students, use of a variety of equipment, supplies, scheduling, storage, and maintenance of the education/technological resources.
    Collaborates with Director of Simulation to assure resources including space, equipment, and staff are effective in running a state-of-the-art simulation program. Collects and analyzes student evaluations of LRC with the resulting plans/actions taken for improvements and updates.
    Prepares reports and related budgetary projections and expenditures as needed and collaborates with faculty and department chair to receive feedback needed for ordering appropriate resources.
    Establishes policies and procedures for the LRC in collaboration with faculty and administration; review, revise, and update policies and procedures as needed.
    Provides a safe lab environment, including developing safety processes and procedures.

    25 % Innovative Technologies
    Defines a vision and develops a plan for the use of innovative technologies that actively positions the Department of Nursing as a leader in nursing education.
    Collaborates with Director of Simulation to investigate and recommend innovative nursing education to faculty and Department Chair.
    Collaborates with Director of Simulation to coordinate and deliver faculty development training on the optimal use of new innovative technologies.
    Serves as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation in classroom/lab activities.
    Collaborates with campus IT on critical issues regarding the computing network, cybersecurity, and infrastructure to ensure a coherent and unified approach.

    Non-Essential Functions and percent of time:
    25 % Teaching
    Provides an organized, appealing teaching and learning environment to promote development of nursing skills and incorporating critical thinking.
    Participates in student recruiting events. Schedules and leads tours of laboratory and simulation facilities, interactive events with current and potential students, faculty, staff, and the community.
    Facilitates specialty events to showcase nursing program and facilities.

    15 % Student Success
    Collaborates with nursing faculty to develop and implement alternative learner success experiences to include advanced technology such as use of 3D Anatomage table, virtual reality equipment etc.
    Provides additional content resources to students during in-person learning sessions and on the Learning Management System.
    Works with individual students and faculty to engage and monitor students with success plans and provides documentation of student progress.
    Facilitates short- and long-term planning and assessment activities for simulation in coordination with faculty, program directors, and the chair.
