  • Summary
    This position is at 50% effort (20 hours/week). You will provide broad administrative support to highly productive faculty members and a highly interactive research team in the Center for Statistical Genetics (CSG) at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Our group seeks to encourage research and training at the interface between the mathematical sciences and genetics/genomics. We promote methods research to develop statistical methods and computational tools for genetic studies and scientific research that applies state of the art methods to address genetic questions with a particular focus on human health and diseases. You will report to the Director of the CSG.

    Administrative support for the Director and research group:

    Update CVs, biographical sketches, and other support.

    Assist with grant submissions; assist with award nominations. Facilitate human resource needs; coordinate interviews and assist with appointments and renewals.

    Office administration: maintain email groups, schedule in-person and virtual meetings, update web page content and process reimbursements.

    Event support: provide support for hosting on-site and off-site meetings, including accommodations, meeting venues, meals, and audiovisual support.

    Required Qualifications*
    High school degree
    4+ years of experience working with faculty in an academic department
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
    Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills and the ability to take initiative and to exercise judgment in setting priorities
    Demonstrated ability to apply good judgment and handle confidential materials and situations with sensitivity and discretion
    Excellent problem-solving skills, initiative, flexibility, and creativity
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Desired Qualifications*
    College degree
    Experience with NIH biographical sketches and other support
    Familiarity with PubMed
    Experience with Adobe Acrobat
    Experience with event planning and support
    Knowledge of Google Suite

    Work Locations
    This position may be eligible for some remote and/or flexible work opportunities at the discretion of the hiring department. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change dependent on the business needs of the hiring department, throughout the course of employment.
