  • It is a known fact that the American education system is not the same today as it used to be in the past. Things have changed drastically and in many the recession was the last straw. It is crumbling in parts of the country as various policies are being charted out yet there is not permanent solution to it.

People are concerned over the fact that there is no law or order when it comes to the education system anymore. First of all the job market is still trying to stand on its feet again, and due to this fresh graduates are left out without much opportunity. People wanted to acquire a degree only so that they could better jobs. But today it is seen that the jobs that are available require high school or university graduates to know mathematical or technological skills.

Most of the times, the students are not up to the mark in these areas and therefore, lose out on the jobs. In a recent letter to the New York Times, the former governor of Mississippi expressed his concerns over the deteriorating structure of the education system in the country.

He stated that one however much tries, cannot escape the fact that education from schools and college no longer helps an individual to work in the interest of the country’s economy. This is reality is much worse and harsher. The gap between the availability of jobs and the students who require the jobs is widening at an alarming rate.

This is because today’s business world demands various professional skills that these students are not equipped with. And this is not only with the students who are now seeking a job but with people who are already unemployed. This is one of the major reasons why people cannot secure jobs.

And with the gap widening, it looks bad on our nation’s economy. It also threatens the nation’s productivity as people are struggling to run their businesses without the required talent available. Plus the businesses have to spend tonnes of money to train the people they select to make them capable of the work required to be done by them.

This training is not made available in school. And this also acts evidence to the fact the high school does not teach the students enough to be equipped to handle any kind of job. Therefore, measures need to be taken to fill this gap. The schools and high schools need to be better prepared so that they ca teach their students better skills.

But how do schools and high schools fathom what is required of them? To help in this case, the National commission for students and education steps in. The former governor states that they have created a national commission which addresses all sorts of queries related to this subject. It will help to build better education reform systems in the years to come and also provide us with solid data.

All that is left to be seen is how much effective this proposition is. Hope it helps the students and the unemployed.
