Home schooling was an attractive option for parents but now has become a trend. Many parents are opting for home school options for their children instead of sending them to regular schools.
A study stated that 1.1 million are reportedly being home schooled by their parents now a days. Whereas previously the umber of students being home schooled was 850000. Therefore, this number makes up for more than 2 percent of school going children in America. A recent study contradicts this number and states that almost 2 million students could be home schooled currently.
This is not surprising as parents today might not be satisfied with the kind of schools in the area or state. They would prefer their child be taught through moral or religious instruction methods instead of the more generic ones offered in regular schools. There could be other reasons too. Some parents are afraid of the number of shootouts happening in schools or even the drug addictions. Ragging could be another reason.
But there are of course limitations of this method. By home schooling parents are depriving the children of meeting kids their age and socializing with them. They do not meet new people therefore, they may lack social skills. They not get invited to parties or after class activities.
Also home schooling can limit their studies to academics only and no curricular activities. But many reports also state that the kids who have been home schooled is good at academics and completely normal like the school going kids. Also many surveys have stated that home schooling has more positive effects on the children. They are better mannered.
Given the space and economic crunch, home schooling is becoming a good idea. It is more viable now with the technology also. Also children may get the best schooling at home, some reports stated.
