The Plane Mirror

When a plane mirror reflects rays, a virtual image appears. The object and its virtual image are symmetric in respect to the mirror surface. Such symmetry in the position of an object and its image is a consequence of the law of reflection: the incident and reflected rays, and the normal to the surface all belong to the same plane. The angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence.

The image is the same size as the object.
