Parabola construction

The model demonstrates a process of a parabola construction using a perfect square method. The function is reduced to form f(x) = k(x-m)2 + n where k=a, m=b/2a and c = -D/4a.

Use step-by-step transformation of x2 function graph to construct the graph of the given function.

First, x2 is shifted by m to (x-m)2.

Second, it is stretched k times.

Finally, it`s shifted up by n.

If you enter a function in canonical form ax2+bx+c in text field f(x) then the model will show a perfect square method. Press the Step button to observe the transformations.
