Office of Residence Life
Allegheny is a residential college, strongly committed to learning and growth beyond the classroom. The College has consequently enriched its residential communities with support networks, creative programs, social activities, and cultural diversity. Because daily life in these residential communities brings new perspectives to concepts studied in class and otherwise helps to broaden horizons, living on campus is considered an integral part of the Allegheny educational experience.
The Residence Life staff currently includes four Area Coordinators as well as carefully selected and trained upperclass students who serve as Resident Directors (RDs), Resident Advisors (RAs) and House Coordinators (HCs), all of whom live on campus and are available to address student needs. The office staff includes the Assistant Dean of Residence Life, the Assistant Director Residence Life / Student Conduct Officer and an Office Manager.
Beginning in the 2009-2010 academic year, the following staff changes will take place. The title of Resident Director (RD) will be changed to Community Advisor (CA) and House Coordinator (HC) will be changed to Resident Advisor (RA).
Goals of the Residential College:
Support the academic mission of the College
Foster community living
Encourage personal growth and development
Engage in experiential learning and support other out-of-class learning experiences
