Cuomo proposes SUNY tuition plan

A formal bill introduced June 9 by Gov. Andrew Cuomo would allow State University of New York campuses to raise tuition no more than 5 percent annually for five years — while SUNY’s four university centers, including the University at Buffalo, would be permitted to raise tuition no more than 8 percent each year.

Right now, tuition is $4,970 a year at the state’s four-year colleges. That doesn’t include another $10,000 or so for room and board, books, transportation and other expenses.
