NC Central University increasing standards in recruitment

North Carolina Central University says it's raising standards to help its students.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Friday the school is trying to recruit better students, set higher standards for professors and add classroom technology.

The Durham school has struggled for years with low graduation rates.

The school hopes to increase the number of students academically ready for college by 25 percent by next August. The school hopes to reduce the remedial courses it offers.
