UAMS says it's getting $102M grant for broadband

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences says it will receive a $102 million federal grant to expand broadband services in the state.

The grant, from federal Agriculture Department economic stimulus funding, ranks among the biggest monetary awards to an Arkansas institution of higher learning.

UAMS said at a news conference Wednesday that the grant will provide broadband connections or upgrades in all of Arkansas' 75 counties, in 135 communities. Included are 81 hospitals in the state,....
