Interim chancellor talks state funding in address to campus

BOULDER, Colo. — Interim Chancellor Phil DiStefano, in a campus address Friday, said the University of Colorado should be able to set its own tuition, without limits from the state.

Now, before tuition rates are set at CU, they need to be approved by state leaders and the school's Board of Regents. But DiStefano said CU, which receives 8 percent of its budget from the state, would be diligent without state limits on raising tuition.
