Rabbi Bernard Lander, the founder and only president of Touro College, a Jewish-sponsored institution of higher learning that began four decades ago in Manhattan with a class of 35 and today educates thousands of students in 29 locations around the world, died on Monday in Flushing, N.Y. He was 94 and lived in Forest Hills, Queens.
His death, at New York Hospital Queens, was of congestive heart failure, a spokeswoman for the college said.
