Gifts to Purdue hold steady

Charitable contributions to Purdue University nearly held steady last year, despite the biggest nationwide drop in gifts to schools in decades.
The $173.8 million Purdue received last year was down $167,416, a drop of less than 1 percent, according to the Council for Aid to Education's annual survey of more than 1,000 institutions.

Giving declined nearly 12 percent nationwide, a drop of about $3.75 billion. That was the largest percentage drop since contributions started being tracked in 1969.
