State college presidents back UMD law school

The presidents of the nine state colleges have endorsed the notion of a public law school as part of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

"We believe that a public law school at UMass is consistent and appropriate to the mission of the university," which is primarily "to provide quality, affordable education," the presidents said in a letter sent to the chairman of the state Board of Education and commissioner of the Department of Higher Education.
