CONTEXT OF JOB:
In today’s rapidly changing financial planning industry, it is essential to ensure that students are ready for their professional journeys. We know that some of the most beneficial learning experiences happen outside of the classroom when students can apply their academics to industry environments. Students learn problem-solving, new approaches to managing professional situations, and strategies for adjusting in a fast-paced workplace. With the creation of the Financial Planning Center, Lerner will create a physical space where financial planning students can gain real-world advisory skills by serving as coaches to fellow UD students. Students from across the University can make an appointment for financial assistance with a financial planning senior student. This peer-to-peer advising includes help with the following:
Repaying, Deferring, and Tackling Student Loan Debt
Investing in a 401k
Purchasing Healthcare, Life, and Disability Insurance
Budgeting
Through these experiences, students will enter the workforce ahead of other entry-level
colleagues, improve their career trajectories and enhance the pipeline of talented and
prepared graduates.
We currently have a vacancy for an Assistant to the Director of the Financial Planning Center with the motivation and vision to partner with the Director to create a nationally recognized and innovative financial planning center.
*This position is currently funded through 8/31/29. Notice of non renewal is not required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead student workers and assist them with their duties
Post student worker positions
Onboard student workers and orient them to Workforce
Schedule student worker shifts
Monitor and approve all student worker Workforce entries
Train student workers on applicable Financial Planning Software
Attend student financial planning sessions in the absence of the Director
Promote the Financial Planning Center across campus
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma and 3 years of work experience.
Knowledge of the financial planning industry and the CFP Board of Standards.
Knowledge of and experience with Client Services, administrative policies and procedures, and basic human resources management.
Effective organizational skills.
Ability to initiate and implement problem solving strategies.
Ability to edit the content, structure, and format of a range of written material.
Effective analytical and technical skills, including the use of financial management systems, spreadsheets, and word-processing software programs
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
Ability to plan, organize, implement, evaluate, and modify administrative support needs.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills and the proven ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to make sound administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
Past work in financial literacy programs, VITA programs, student loans, and financial coaching preferred.
Familiarity with University programs is preferred.
Demonstrates an understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures, and backgrounds.
