    The GE Johnson Department of Architectural Engineering and Construction Science (ARE/CNS) in the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS is seeking qualified candidates to teach courses, conduct research, and industry outreach for the department related to building systems engineering with an emphasis on electrical and lighting as an instructor or tenure-track Assistant Professor. This role will support the college’s strategic plan to develop a sustainable process for the rehabilitation of buildings using cutting-edge construction and design practices.

    The successful candidate will:

    Deliver creative and effective teaching in courses related to electrical, lighting, and technology.
    Engage in peer-reviewed research, scholarship, and/or creative activities.
    Participate in departmental governance.
    Participate in university and professional service.
    Contribute to an environment that fosters collegiality.

    What You'll Need to Succeed
    Minimum Qualifications:

    A master’s degree in Architectural Engineering or other relevant engineering program is required for a full-time tenure-track position. A relevant bachelor’s degree, along with industry experience, will be considered for the instructor level. If appointed at the full-time instructor level, the successful candidate will be required to obtain an approved graduate degree within an agreed time frame to be eligible for a tenure-track position.
    Demonstrated relevant professional experience as an engineer, focused on building electrical systems design.
    Have a current Kansas or reciprocal professional engineering registration as a P.E., or P.Eng. or relevant lighting certification.
    Five or more years of full-time relevant professional experience in the design and/or construction industry using North American standards and practices.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    Preferred Qualifications:

    Terminal degree in relevant discipline.
    Certification related to sustainable building practices.
    Demonstrated ability to integrate project work across multiple areas of building/infrastructure design.
    Significant professional Architectural, Engineering, and/or Construction industry experience in a project management capacity.
    Undergraduate teaching experience.
    Sponsorship eligibility:

    Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
