The SVM Information Technology team is a key partner in delivering all these systems and services in support of the operation of one of the best Schools of Veterinary Medicine in the nation.

    At the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, you'll help develop and lead a team that enables the delivery of state-of-the-art teaching and patient care through their implementation and support of the latest computing systems. You'll also serve as a key liaison with one of our core stakeholders: our Veterinary Medical Center. Your knowledge and skills at leading and managing teams, while helping the director develop IT strategy, will be welcomed and embraced, as you join our professional team of Information Technology generalists and specialists.

    Responsibilities:
    Develops and directs the implementation of strategic plans for information technology (IT) functional department(s), unit(s), or program(s) to ensure that resources are utilized to provide effective administrative, research, outreach, and/or instructional information technology services. May directly manage IT services.
    10% Directs strategic information technology planning initiatives and establishes objectives for IT functional department(s), unit(s), or program(s) to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, staffing resources in alignment with the strategic plan
    20% Develops operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives
    10% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
    5% May develop and audit the unit budget and/or financials
    10% Serves as a liaison representing the interests of the unit to internal and external stakeholders
    15% Frequently assists the division's IT director in advising institutional or divisional leadership on information technology operations and business models
    10% May perform manager functions
    5% Provides management and leadership for teams supporting endpoint information Technology (endpoint computing devices, such as desktop, laptop, and tablet computers; and VoIP telephone systems).
    5% Provides management and leadership for teams supporting medical equipment such as por5table ultrasound, X-Ray, and pharmaceutical distribution cabinets; and credit card acceptance terminals.
    5% Through coaching and/or mentoring, provides guidance to team members on career growth, networking opportunities, and other professional development opportunities.
    5% Serves as backup leadership to the CIO and Director of IT as needed
    Tasks:
    Provide leadership and mentorship to IT staff, fostering professional development and a customer-focused culture.
    Assists in developing and implementing the IT strategic plan to align with the School of Veterinary Medicine's and UW Veterinary Care's goals and mission.
    Work with team members to develop formalized project management processes to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of projects.
    Work with team members to develop and implement strategies for disaster recovery and business continuity specific to the hospital and academic environment.
    Work with client stakeholders and team members to develop processes and procedures to deliver successful IT services to multiple constituent groups.
    Work with team members and stakeholders to develop and deploy technology projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
    Work with team members to ensure compliance with university policies, data security standards, and applicable regulations, particularly regarding sensitive research .
    Work with team members to draft, review, and enforce IT policies, including data security and compliance standards.
    Support faculty in integrating and maintaining technology solutions for teaching, research, and clinical education.
    Manage work queue for endpoint support team, ensuring cases are appropriately assigned and assuring timely resolution of client issues.
    Work closely with primary hospital stakeholders to ensure appropriate service delivery on electronic medical records and PACS/Radiology management systems.
    Occasionally perform monthly IT billing to departments that purchase goods through the IT teams, processes IT purchases as needed, and work to ensure the inventory is properly managed.
