A postdoctoral position in medical device development and translation is available at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. This position will be appointed at the rank of postdoctoral fellow and will involve the design, construction, deployment, and validation of novel wound healing technology. The project is sponsored by the Defense Health Agency through the US Combat Casualty Care Research Program and in collaboration with investigators at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on productivity and performance, as well as the availability of funding. Initial review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Candidates with a strong background and hands-on experience in mechanical design, mechatronics, systems automation, and control are highly encouraged to apply.
Requirements: A PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field is required. Demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas is required: control systems, mechanical design, electromechanical system fabrication, rapid prototyping, miniature sensors development, electronic circuit design, CAD design, and programming in LabVIEW. Creativity is highly desirable.
