  • The University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Analytics in Sleep, Circadian Rhythms and Health seeks a post-doctoral associate to advance statistical methods in psychiatry. The role combines independent research, training in modern statistical techniques, and collaboration on NIH-funded projects. Candidates should have strong communication skills, a PhD in a quantitative field, and experience with models and machine learning.     Qualifications or Expectations:

    • A PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, biostatistics, or quantitative psychology) is preferred
    • Commitment to quality and integrity are essential skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Familiarity with mixed effect models, analysis of high-dimensional data, clustering, and/or machine learning is preferred
    • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

    • The successful candidate(s) will continue in their own independent methodological and/or applied research, receive training in cutting-edge methods for statistics in psychiatry (e.g., related to sleep/circadian data, mental health, high-dimensional and/or multi-modal data, clustering, and/or machine learning), and engage in various applied collaborative projects sponsored by NIH and other agencies

    Duties or Responsibilities:

    • Adapt and apply cutting-edge statistical methods to investigate research questions related to sleep/circadian rhythms and mental health
    • Conduct independent methodological and/or applied research using existing data.
    • Gain skills to launch and maintain a successful research career in psychiatric statistics.
    • Gain training in content and methods for sleep-circadian science.
    • Gain training in statistical methods for psychiatric research, especially related to multi-modal and high-dimensional sleep and psychiatric data.
    • Participate in ongoing NIH-funded studies of sleep/circadian science and mental health in adolescence, including the Pediatric Precision Sleep Network (PPSN) and the Center for Adolescent Rhythms and Reward (CARRS)
    • Submit first- and co-author publications to high-quality peer-reviewed journals stemming from independent and collaborative research.
