  • Description:
  • Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at theBeckman Research Institute of City of Hope, where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research.

The lab of Dr. Qiong (Annabel) Wang, in the department of Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, is seeking an independent and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow interested in studying the molecular, cellular, and metabolic mechanisms leading to obesity, diabetes, and cancer.

The Wang laboratory investigates the function and remodeling of adipose tissue under both physiological and pathological conditions, including insulin resistance, obesity, and cancer.

Our long-term goal is to deliver fundamental insights into several key areas:

    1) the metabolic significance of adipocyte and adipocyte progenitor cell plasticity and heterogeneity

    2) the communication between adipocytes and other cell types in response to metabolic cues

    3) the aging of adipose tissue and its link to age-related metabolic disorders and cancer. Ultimately, we aim to mitigate the pathogenesis and develop treatments for chronic metabolic diseases.

We have established unique, comprehensive mouse models for:

    1) real-time labeling and lineage tracing

    2) inducible and cell type-specific knockout & over-expression

    3) inducible deletion of a specific population.

We constantly integrate biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology methods with state-of-the-art technologies such as comprehensive mouse phenotyping, 3D tissue clearing & imaging, in vivo transplantation and 3D imaging of transplants, and single-cell and spatial multi-omics.

Our research has been published in esteemed journals such as Science, Nature Medicine, Nature Cell Biology, Cell Metabolism, and the Journal of Clinical Investigation, among others. For a complete List of Publications please visit here.

    Your qualifications should include:

    · PhD or M.D. Expertise in using mouse models to study metabolic diseases is preferred.

    · Extensive experience in basic molecular biology skills.

    · Experience in animal models.

    · Experience in immunofluorescence staining and flow cytometry.

    · Good written and verbal communication skills.

    · Strong problem-solving skills, capable of independent research and effective teamwork.
