Overview/Program Description
The purpose of the Management Department Doctoral Program is to train and mentor PhD students so that can contribute meaningfully to the development and delivery of the knowledge base that is comprised within the field of management. Our goal is to place students at research-oriented universities because this maximizes their opportunity to make meaningful scholarly contributions. The key to placing students in top research-orientations in today’s competitive environment is to build their research skills and accomplishments so that there publication records stand out and attract attention in an ever-crowded pool of applicants. In order to secure interviews at the top schools, it is increasingly imperative that students have published two or three papers in the top journals in the field, and that one of these papers lists the students as the lead author. As many programs shift the balance in their faculties from full time tenure track positions to more part-time or adjunct professors, the competition for full time tenure track positions will increase, and the role of research publications will become even more important in the future. Our top students have always excelled on this criterion, and our goal is to try to build off our current momentum and leverage our past success to enhance our placement record even further.
