K-12 Educational Administration
Ranked 10th nationally in K-12 leadership and administration programs we offer masters, specialist and doctoral degrees plus a range of professional development opportunities and develop leaders for prominent roles in school organizations at local, national, and international levels.
Masters and specialist degree programs are designed to build knowledge and skills for effective school and district leadership and link students to leading edge developments.
The Doctoral program emphasizes inquiry and scholarship as a means to strengthening professional knowledge and practice.
Participation in K-12 programs provides educators with opportunities to study and collaborate with nationally recognized faculty working on critical issues in school leadership, school improvement, educational policy, international education and related areas.
The K-12 Outreach Center networks professionals to prominent educational organizations locally, nationally and internationally; the Education Policy Center offers students access to influential state and national policy makers.
Doctorate in Educational Administration
The Doctoral program emphasizes disciplined inquiry, conceptual analysis, connections between theory and practice and the development of research and scholarship. Throughout the program, students advance their capacity to frame questions and to conduct and communicate research that contributes to professional practice and scholarship. The degree is earned through successful completion of coursework, qualifying exams and a doctoral thesis. Depending on full or part-time status, most students earn the degree in 4-6 years.
Each year's cohort enrolls a mix of U.S. and international educators who go on to assume positions as school and district leaders, professors, researchers, policy analysts and consultants in the U.S. and beyond. Entering students are expected to possess knowledge equivalent to that represented in a masters degree in educational administration or a closely related field. Students from other fields may need to supplement minimum requirements to meet program standards.
The program supports the inclusion of professional educators who enter as either part time or full time students by using evening, weekend, summer and online learning in the scheduling of courses, symposia, colloquia and other key events.
